Job description
As Chelsea Creative Studio’s Senior Graphic & Motion Designer, your mission is to help to take design at CFC to new heights. You will work on large scale design, advertising and motion graphics campaigns across all areas of the club. You will be responsible for upholding standards of the design direction of the club, helping the Creative Design Lead to implement the conditions needed for creative success and lifting the standards of design quality year after year. You will be mentoring and managing a team of designers and artworkers, helping them achieve an exceptional standard of work across all our brand and fan touchpoints.
Responsibilities:
- Help create a new language for football (visual, verbal and behavioural). Our new brand platform demands different. You will be responsible for developing an identity that disrupts the old conventions of football, a paradigm shift in how a football club shows up.
- Raise the standards of design at CFC. Move our work up the creative scoreboard season after season, expand the capabilities of our team to include complete range of design skills (image, motion, verbal).
- Conceive, develop and release original, affecting and contagious work that lifts us above other clubs and has the power to ignite fan culture. Overseeing all Tier 2 & 3 projects directly, bringing visual concepts to life through engaging layout, with a strong eye for typography and content hierarchy.
- Contribute to the creation of a design culture that’s fanatically devoted to the craft.
- Manage and mentor a team of designers and artworkers. Develop their skills, expand their thinking, enrich their work lives, help them feel like they are on a constant path of progress.
- Maintain the perfect conditions for success. Uphold and guard best practices, processes and put in place smart creative tools and systems. Proactively monitoring design concept quality, accuracy and consistency.
- Be a trusted creative partner to stakeholders across the business. Inspire them to buy braver work through your presentation skills, be an expert in their channels and formats and help them deliver smoothly.
- Help build a vibrant creative culture at CFC. Actively look for ways of inspiring CSS team members and others across the business. Help them get excited about fresh thinking, boundary pushing creative work and the transformative power of design.
- Help the Creative Design Lead to gatekeep our brand guidelines and visual identities across every area of the business. Oversee their evolution, help stakeholders develop them, understand them and use them. Upholding and refining processes to police them and ensure consistency across all channels and formats.
Skills:
- Outstanding craft skills. High taste levels- particularly in moving our brand into a more fashion-forward world. An exemplar of visual expression, presentation and design practice. Ability and willingness to roll up sleeve when needed and lead from the front.
- Strong knowledge of design process with advanced skills in all Adobe programs. Knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and template creation. with the ability to coach and develop the other designers’ abilities in this area.
- Motion Design Skills with the ability to animate typographic pieces such as LEDs, Totems and web banners to high industry standard.
- A deep knowledge of our fans and football culture. On top of design trends, the latest work from other clubs, sports and culturally adjacent brands.
- Ability to inspire team members, juniors and provide excellent mentorship and skills development. Invested in the growth, health and happiness of our team.
- Good presentation skills and the ability to communicate and present an idea clearly and concisely.
Strong attention to detail. Ability to meet deadlines and manage delivery expectations. - A solid understanding of brand development and creative strategy, including the expression of the brand across multiple channels.

- A happy, healthy, motivated team in a continuous state of learning and self-improvement.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience in the creative industry either client-side or agency.
- A degree in graphic design or related subjects
- Experience as a Designer working across global brands and on a broad range of high-profile public facing projects.
- Expertise in latest design software (Adobe Creative Suite) After Effects and other motion software, and a good working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating ideation, design and copywriting skills across a wide range of design and advertising campaigns, with a particular focus to commercial based assets.
